Overview of Government
In Practice Ocia is unicameral but officially it is Bicameral because a ceremonial body called the National Council that reviews laws. The Assembly of the Ocian Federation composes of Deputies (or Members of the Assembly) who are elected during Parliamentary Elections, they represent different Parts of the Federation. The ceremonial head of the Assembly is the President of the Assembly. In Ocia the President of the Federation who is elected directly through Free and Fair elections is the head of state, the Prime Minister who is head of government is elected indirectly. Both serve a term of 6 months.
The President
The President of the Ocian Federation is elected Directly through Free and Fair elections. The constitution of the Ocian Federation makes the President Supreme Commander of the Defense Forces, the head of State and he also serves the role of representing Ocia. The current President Dr. Matt Kovac was the founder of the Federation; Matt Kovac won 80% of the votes in a December 2007 election. The President resides in the Presidential Palace (featured left) which was constructed in 2007 in a contemporary theme, the President also has a Retreat in the Ocian Alps.
The Prime Minister
The Prime Minister of the Ocian Federation is the Head of government and is responsible for the day to day affairs of running the federation. The Prime Minister is the head of the political party that won the majority in Parliamentary Elections. The current Prime Minister, Kerry Manson of the Liberal Democracy of Ocia won a 72% majority in the last elections. The Prime Minister Resides in the Palace of the Federation 3 Kilometers from the Capital, it also houses the offices of the ministers.
